The Master loved the solemn silence of the morning—the moment of blessing before the Earth awakens. In those hours, the air is purest, refreshed and cool from the touch of the starry peace. The Master never missed the hours that belong to the great life, never missed the first ray of the rising Sun. During a morning walk, in conversation, the Master said:
A person comes to Earth as to a school, with a special program designed for him. Almost every day is already determined in what must happen. Man is sent here both to study and to go on an excursion.
Do you know where you have come from? You were dissatisfied, and to comfort you, they sent you on a trip with a free ticket. You are excursionists. One must thank God that he is walking on this Earth. And when he returns home, he will always bring something with him. As he travels, he must take notes. And when he returns, he will tell his friends what he has seen.
Man cannot realize all his desires in a single lifetime. That is why he will come to Earth many times, until he fulfills them and reaches perfection.
Some people come to Earth to atone for their sins. Others—to perfect themselves. Still others—to help others. For these three things man comes to Earth. If you are sent for correction, it is not of your will—you have come by law. If you are sent as a student, to learn and to perfect yourself, you are a little freer. And if you come to help, you are even freer.
There are things that cannot be spoken of, for which one must remain silent. Someone asks: “Can you tell me about my past?” I answer: “No. Because if I speak, the relationships between you from the past will come forth.” The bad memories of past incarnations are many, and if a person remembers them, they will hinder him.
Man has passed through different nations in order to perfect himself. Every nation is a laboratory for the invisible world. Man has passed through various schools. He has taken all social positions—both of master and of servant.
What is old age? It is a disease of human flesh. In the human spirit there is no old age. It knows how to work and how to preserve its strength.
When a person frees himself from his karma, he comes to Earth by his own will.
A sister once asked how to free herself from karma.
Here is how: the one whom you love—do not seek to possess him.
Nature allows you to do whatever you wish, but afterward it will give you a good lesson. Let us say a man stands at the bottom of a cone turned with its point downward. In the cone, a fruit tree grows upwards. If the man wants to knock down the fruit and throws a stone upward, the stone will fall on his own head. This example explains the following law: everything a man does—whether evil or good—returns to him.
Some people commit crimes. Intelligent Nature gives them a good lesson—it passes them through suffering. After some time, they forget. They come a second time, again commit crimes. It may take ten repetitions of suffering before they truly learn their lesson.
Correct a mistake immediately; do not let them put interest on it. At the beginning it is easier to correct—that is the Divine way. The more a person delays, the harder it becomes to fix. A small sin is like a seed. Someone says: “This is nothing.” Yet the consequences are great. The small seed grows and becomes a large tree. Small mistakes create great misfortunes. A single matchstick is small, yet it can destroy an entire city.
An angel who sins in the other world cannot live there anymore. In that world, if you become angry at someone, you cannot remain there.
The great intelligent world determines the destiny of man—not fatally, but in accordance with his thoughts, feelings, and deeds. As soon as he changes them, God will also change His decision for him—his destiny will change. There are statistics for this. You are a merchant. A poor man comes to you, asking for help. You tell him: “Go work.” But later a crisis comes, and you lose 30–40 thousand leva. A farmer violates Divine laws, but then drought or flood comes and takes everything away. He will have to remember. You refuse to do a service—then a sickness comes and you pay.
By the law of karma, the Russian aristocracy fell from the highest to the lowest. And that, within one lifetime, not—as in other cases—within another incarnation.
As long as you live without love, you will be born and reborn. Once Love comes, reincarnation ceases. Love liquidates karma.
Today, most people liquidate their karma through suffering. To deal with your karma more easily, keep the following: do not speak evil of one another. If someone is of the intemperate ones and cannot help but speak ill of others, at least let the others be mindful and not take offense. To the one I say: “Restrain yourself, so you do not speak ill of your neighbors.” To those spoken of I say: “Do not be offended!” He who offends, and he who takes offense—both fail to solve their tasks. Then karma will solve it. It is strict and inexorable. If you wait for karma to solve your tasks, you will achieve nothing.
Another path by which you can solve them is Love. If a person chooses this path, for him applies the verse: “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes” [Rev. 21:4]. This we call liquidation of old karma. All people are entangled in it. Liquidate it!
One day the Lord will erase all the sins of people, karma will be erased and will remain only as a film. Then man will see what he has been in the past, what he has done. The past will be erased as karma, but as a film it will remain. We must leave the realm of karma. In it there is no resolution of the questions. It is a deviation from the Divine path.
Dharma—these are all the favorable conditions for development. Dharma—this is grace. Grace is not given by chance, but only to the one who is ready to use what is given to him. It is spoken of the one who can understand and make use of it.
